Happy 3rd Birthday N!

It is hard to believe our little guy is 3, even though he constantly reminds us that he is a "big boy" now. He was very excited for his birthday this year, and had been asking almost daily when it would be his birthday, after E celebrated hers. We told him "one day" as the answer at one point, and so his nightly ritual before we left his room was to say "See you in morning time? N's birthday--one day?" And we would agree that we would see him in the morning, but it wouldn't be his birthday yet. He did learn to make a "3" with his fingers so that as his birthday approached and more people talked to him about it, he would hold up his 3 fingers in response and say "one day". So imagine his delight when he found out that the "one day" was here! We celebrated his birthday on Saturday with a brunch and pirate party theme. Once again, Ed put together a great cake (I think it was the coolest one yet). N loved being sung to, and blowing out the candles.

We also a treasure hunt through the house where the cousins found their party treats in mini treasure boxes (E and Peter really took the lead in the hunt, and it was more for them than for the little ones). Yesterday we celebrated with playgroup friends, so although today is his real birthday, this year it will just be Mommy's (and not baby's either-- sorry Rachel-- I haven't felt any progression yet, and I just have a feeling that the baby willl be born this weekend).
